My new year’s resolution was to subscribe to a mantra known as 555. Don’t Google it. You won’t find anything. I invented it on new year’s eve. Triple 5 requires me to run 5 kilometers at 5 in the morning, 5 times a week.
I have been running at 5 a.m. every weekday since the beginning of this year. We are only in February but I am already getting addicted to this routine. The hardest thing about the implementation of 555 is taking weekends off. Sometimes, resting is harder than putting in the work.
Resisting the urge to lace them up and run can be hard but it is important to give your muscles time to recover. The older you get, the handier the recovery time. Working on the same muscles every day can lead to wear and tear. There is a thin line between dedication and self destruction. In this case, overtraining can lead to the latter. When you get obsessed with your workout routine, rest days can be boring but necessary.
Waking up at 5 gives you a headstart. Kick-starting your day with a good workout makes you more productive the rest of the day. If you aren’t used to vigorous physical activities, the first few weeks will be hard. Your fitness journey will be challenging but you will cherish every milestone. When your body develops a required level of vitality and your conditioning improves, you will discover the finer things in life.
It is easier to observe a training regimen early in the morning. What if you are not a morning person? There is no such a thing as a "not a morning person." The only place that phrase exists is on your mind. When you change your schedule, your body adjusts accordingly. There is nothing wrong with working out in the evening. However, it is easier to skip an evening session because of a variety of economic and social engagements.
This is not a fitness blog. It is an adventure travel site. However, fitness and adventure are interrelated pursuits. You need to be in a good shape to incorporate real adventure into your life. The combination of fitness and adventure brings money-can’t-buy leisure benefits.
As we face the biggest health crisis of our lifetime, it is more important than ever to lead a healthier lifestyle. George M. Trevelyan wrote, "I have two doctors: my left leg and my right one. If you are not into running, there is good news: According to Science, walking is as effective, if not more effective, than running. It is high time we embrace exercising and eating right.

One day your doctor will send you to those sidewalk pavements instead of sending you to the pharmacy. Don’t wait until that day comes.
