The Kabuye - Ruhondo trail spans the distance of about 10 kilometers — zigzagging from Gakenke to Musanze via Burera. It takes four to seven hours to cover the entire passage. The first 4-kilometer stretch is a steep slope. The rest of the trail meanders around picturesque hills while slashing through settlements, farms and small forests. Long distance notwithstanding, it is easy to navigate.
