It’s that time of the year again. The season of giving. This year, we are giving back to the community.
In partnership with local businesses, I am donating copies of a book titled Memories to community libraries across the country. This book is a recollection of my own domestic tourism experiences.
The said book is published by Exposure Ltd, a Rwandan content marketing agency established to promote tourism and literacy while creating an alternative platform for companies to promote their products and services. The agency harnesses the power of storytelling in creating affinity between brands and their target clientele around the globe.
Earlier this month, I delivered books to Club Rafiki and Kabuga Youth Empowerment for Global Opportunities (YEGO) Center, courtesy of Igasabo Showroom, Excel Plus Investment Ltd and Jalia Garden.
This week, I will be doing the same for the benefit of YEGO centers and other community libraries in the Northern Province. There are currently thirty-two YEGO centers built around the country for the benefit of our own children. By providing free access to sports facilities, innovation tools and libraries, these centers are empowering the youth significantly.
As the saying goes, reading is to the mind what exercising is to the body. Participating in sports and reading books are vital in physical and cognitive development. The establishment of youth centers is encouraging young people to lead a healthy lifestyle and embrace constructive hobbies.
Most of our community libraries rely heavily on donations from overseas. As a result, their shelves are stuffed with books from abroad. Generally, we have a huge shortage of our own content. To help fill this gap, Exposure is publishing books that highlight the beauty of Rwanda and inspiring stories from the local communities.
